Safeguarding
Craftsmanship

Bridging a heritage of craft with innovative and modern techniques is fundamental to our legacy. Behind every creation are artisans using expert skills and, through specialized schools and trainings, we’ve been focused on preserving their know-how for years to come.

2023 SPOTLIGHT

Adotta una Scuola Project

As part of the Altagamma Adotta una scuola (Adopt a School) program with Italy’s Ministry of Education, Gucci established two new multi-year partnerships in 2023 in support of the continuation of luxury craft and technical mastery in Italy. In January, we launched a collaboration with the Benvenuto Cellini Institute of Higher Education in Florence with two classes of around thirty students participating in a training course dedicated to leather goods and metal accessories.

Gucci Visions

A unique showcase of creativity and craftsmanship, we unveiled the Gucci Visions exhibition in Florence in 2023. The exhibition is an immersive journey through the House’s 102-year history exploring our heritage codes, signature designs and dedication to craft, as well as the talents of our Creative Directors and artisans over the years. Tracing Gucci’s history, visitors are invited to discover how we’ve creatively evolved with eight individual rooms presenting a different facet of our story.

I was a Sari

Our close partnership with social enterprise I was a Sari continued in 2023 with a focus on special projects. Through upcycling and selling pre-loved saris, the organization provides training for women from underprivileged communities in Mumbai to give them the opportunity to become world-class artisans and gain financial independence. We have been supporting the initiative since 2018 in various ways and last year the I was a Sari artisans created our employee holiday gift, a one-of-a-kind textile from re-purposed old fabrics that could be used as a blanket, rug or yoga mat.
