Gucci & CHIME FOR CHANGE Host 21 For ’21: Visions For a Feminist Future with new media platform The Meteor
On May 18, a group of leading activists, journalists, and creators came together to host 21 For ’21: Visions for a Feminist Future, a virtual summit highlighting 21 essential visions of gender equity. Produced by The Meteor – a new media platform created to house modern, intersectional feminist work – the summit united diverse powerhouses working toward gender equality, encouraging attendees to engage with speakers and reimagine a better, fairer, freer world in all arenas, across all genders and races.
The virtual event brought together a unique cross-generational collection of leaders, including well-known activists, artists, athletes and others, who led individual talks, monologues, conversations, short films, and more.

Activist and media strategist Raquel Willis emceed the event. Leading feminists, activists and artists – including Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Roxane Gay, Phill Picardi, Shantell Martin, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Travon Free and Ilana Glazer – participated in in-depth discussions of topics ranging from climate change to immigration to the future of caregiving and disability rights. Highlights from the summit also include Regan Aliyah performing her original song, “The Future,” and Gloria Steinem joining poet and activist Amanda Gorman in conversation about language.
Hillary Rodham Clinton led a roundtable on how women are using their platforms to draw specific attention to AAPI women, girls and nonbinary people after a year of trauma in the AAPI community. The discussion featured Lana Condor, Sonal Shah and Amanda Nguyen.
“We are in a moment of urgent reckoning, and everywhere you look, women and their allies are stepping up to invent new ways of thinking, working and living. 21 For ’21 was a place to bring together those voices—all committed to reimagining a future where our workplaces, legal systems, climate policy and more better serve all people – regardless of race, gender, or immigration status.”
Throughout the evening, Hafsat Abiola, Lorella Praeli, Reshma Saujani, Dr. Silvia Federici, Andraea LaVant, Meena Harris, Rumaitha Al Busaidi, Paola Mendoza, Francia Marquez, Andrea James, and Joy Buolamwini discussed their proposed solutions for the leading issues facing women today: challenges in motherhood, climate change, attacks on the AAPI community, female incarceration, and the challenges facing women in leadership and tech.
The event also featured Global Spotlight segments in which activists from around the world, including Yume Morimoto, DeLanna Studi, Eileen Huang, Maryangel Garcia-Ramos, Sage Dolan-Sandrino, Angel Sabah Khodir and Kulsum Shadab Wahab, shared their hopes for the future in their own communities.
21 For ’21 participants Hafsat Abiola, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Sage Dolan-Sandrino serve on the CHIME FOR CHANGE Advisory Board, and Yume Morimoto and Maryangel Garcia-Ramos are CHIME Zine contributors.
An educational syllabus was also offered to attendees, outlining new ways to continue to participate in feminism of the future. Throughout the syllabus, visionary feminist thinkers share works, ranging from novels, podcasts, articles and beyond, that they believe point the way to a more fair future, and what issues the movement must tackle to achieve this.
