ミシガン州デトロイトのダウンタウンにグッチが新たな店舗を構えたことを記念して、Gucci Changemakersはデトロイト生まれの高名な詩人であるジェシカ・ケア・ムーアに、デトロイトのスピリットをたたえたオリジナルの詩の創作を依頼しました。
デトロイトとその生き生きとした文化に親近感を感じたグッチは、デトロイトをGucci Changemakersノースアメリカ プログラムの2019年の重点都市としました。
2022年8月に同市に初となる店舗をオープンしたグッチは、地元のアーティストとコラボレーションして、芸術や文化に対してデトロイトが果たしてきた貢献に敬意を表しました。
Gucci Changemakersはジェシカ・ケア・ムーアに依頼して、デトロイトのコミュニティに根付いているスタイルに敬意を表した、“We Wear The Working Day” と題した詩を創作してもらいました。
その詩の一節は、地域の人々が楽しめるアートウォールとして、シレン ホテルのファサードにハンドペイントで描かれています。以下がその詩の全文です。

we take over a room.
The spirit of a fashionable city is felt
As soon as she walks in.

ジェシカ・ケア・ムーアについて
ジェシカ・ケア・ムーアは数々の賞を受賞している世界的に有名な詩人であり、レコーディングアーティストや本の出版者として、また俳優としても活躍しています。
ムーアの著作には『The Words Don’t Fit in My Mouth』、『The Alphabet Verses The Ghetto』、『God is Not an American』、『Sunlight Through Bullet Holes』などがあります。2020年にハーパーコリンズ社から出版された5作目となる『We Want Our Bodies Back』は、アメリカ図書館協会のブラック・コーカス賞（詩部門）を受賞しました。
ムーアは、コモンやナズ、ジージー、タリブ・クウェリ、カリーム・リギンス、ジェフ・ミルズ、ザ ラスト ポエット、ホセ・ジェイムズ、ロイ・エアーズその他とともに、自身の詩のレコーディングを行っています。彼女はプロデューサー兼脚本家として参加したカシム・バジル監督作の映画『 He Looked Like A Postcard』への初出演も果たしました。
1990年代の伝説的なテレビ番組『It’s Showtime at the Apollo』に出演して5週連続で勝ち抜き、全米の視聴者たちを釘付けにしたのもムーアです。ムーアの詩や朗読した音声は、スミソニアン新国立アフリカ系アメリカ人歴史博物館の4階で大々的に紹介されています。誇り高きデトロイターである彼女は、新進アーティストでもある15歳の息子キングとともにデトロイトで暮らしています。
