Chime for Change

A global community of voices; a campaign bringing people together in the fight for gender equality and promoting female self-expression

Chime For Change aims to inspire participation in a collective community. Across borders, and generations. All united in the fight for gender equality.

Since Chime For Change was launched in 2013, its Co-founders Salma Hayek Pinault and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter have led the campaign, in collaboration with a coalition of partner organisations including the Kering Foundation, Hearst Magazines, Facebook and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

To date Chime For Change has raised 17 million USD to support hundreds of projects across the globe, with partners such as Equality Now, the Global Fund for Women, I was a Sari, Ms. Foundation for Women, mothers2mothers, UN Women and Women Deliver. The campaign is united under the banner ‘To Gather Together’, a call for the global community to unite in support of gender equality. Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele collaborated with Italian visual artist MP5 to create the latest Chime For Change campaign identity, which was revealed in 2019.

“My aim is to send a clear and loud message about the fact that the entire Gucci community is gathered together standing for gender equality.”

To further amplify and celebrate the community of global voices speaking out for gender equality and self-expression, in 2019 Gucci began publishing the CHIME zine, edited by Adam Eli and art directed by MP5, which features contributions from activists and artists around the world.
